Good conversation, coffee and cakes go hand in hand. A good way of experiencing Greenlandic culture and hospitality is to take part in a traditional kaffemik.

Inhabitants in Nuuk are happy to open the door to their home and invite you in for a cup of coffee, tea and homemade cakes.

The tour begins at Tupilak Travel’s office. The first stop is the animal skin sewing workshop, Kittat, where the guide describes traditional tanning of animal skin, the national costume and embroidering of animal skins for around half an hour.

The tour then continues to the house of a local family who are ready with a well-laid table and good stories about everyday life in Nuuk, then and now.
