Experience one of World’s wonders, the UNESCO classified Icefjord, Ilulissat Icefjord, by foot, from a boat and maybe even from above (optional). The Icefjord is one of the fastest and most active glaciers in the world. It calves about 43 million ton ice in one day! Or to put it into another perspective: 35 km3 in one year. These numbers are almost unbelievable and it’s something you have to experience to believe. The boat excursion will take you to this world of gigantic icebergs. Experience the deafening silence, broken only by the sound of seagulls and the thunderously exploding ice. After this, visit the cozy settlement of Oqaatsut with its 40 inhabitants, who live mainly by hunting and fishing. It is the 8th smallest settlement in Greenland but nevertheless, it is one of the most thriving ones with its fish production. Stay overnight and feel the beat of Inuit village life. Taste traditional Greenlandic food, visit a local family, go fishing, kayaking or rock climbing or join a whale safari or sightseeing by plane. Or go on a day trip to visit Eqi the calving glacier and experience the amazing sounds and sights up close (all optional).
