The contrasts in the area around Narsaq are beyond description, with flowering, green and fertile meadows rolling down to the edge of turquoise-green fjords full of icebergs in the most fantastic formations!

Narsaq is a middle-sized town with about 1600 inhabitants. It is beautifully situated on a fertile flat area that ends abruptly at the feet of the large mountains. One of them, named Kvanefjeld, is famous due to the large concentration of rare stones and minerals. Here you can find the beautiful, pink gemstone Tugtupit.

Narsaq is an excellent starting point to experience the ice; either by boat on a trip among icebergs or to the ice cap itself, or on hiking tours, shorter as well as longer; always with amazing views of ice-filled fjords.

But in Narsaq, you will also experience a modern Greenlandic town, and you will get an insight into how Greenland has gradually developed from a society of hunters to its present-day status as a modern society part of the global world.
