How to get there
Ittoqqortoormiit in northeast Greenland is the gateway to the park and one of the most isolated towns in Greenland in relation to the location. To get here you fly from Reykjavik (REK) in Iceland. Ittoqqortoormiit is a good starting point for tourist trips and expeditions by sea kayak, boat or dogsled to the remote northeast Greenland National Park.
Permission is needed
To be able to travel and reside in the National Park requires a permit from the Government of Greenland’s Ministry of Domestic Affairs, Nature and Environment. If you participate in an organized tourist trip, for example, a cruise, then the organizers have arranged for the necessary permits.
