“The view from your panoramic window presents a magical landscape of massive icebergs.”

A memory you will treasure

Invite your loved one to spend a romantic few days with you at the Hotel Arctic overlooking the UNESCO ice fjord.

Regardless of whether you are celebrating a specific event – or whether the experience itself helps cement the special bond between you – the journey to one of the most beautiful places in the world will become a memory you will treasure.

The two of you alone in the world

Enjoy the fantastic setting in one of the spacious and comfortable rooms or suites overlooking the ice fjord at the world’s northernmost four-star hotel. Or perhaps you want to move into one of the famous aluminium igloos? There are just five of these igloos furnished as hotel rooms for two. The architect brazenly sited them on an isolated spot on one of the cliffs overlooking Disko Bay.

Your warm igloo out on the cliffs has the comfort and luxury of the hotel nearby but will still make you feel that the two of you are all alone in the world. Whatever you choose, the view from your panoramic window will present a magical landscape of massive icebergs that slowly drift by and occasionally calve.

“Royalty has stayed at the Hotel Arctic.”

Sled dogs as neighbours

From morning to night, the rays of the sun make the ice change colour from white and blue to pink and orange. Your furry neighbours – the hotel’s sled dogs – have their own little red kennels which are between the igloos and the main part of the hotel.

The huskies will follow you with their eyes as you stroll along the red wooden bridge that leads over the cliffs to the igloos. See the sun set behind the icebergs on Disko Bay.

Royalty has stayed at the Hotel Arctic. One of the most prominent couples was Crown Prince Fredrik and Crown Princess Mary. They must have taken the same evening stroll over the cliffs.

Snow crab, musk ox and mountain herbs

Jeppe Ejvind Nielsen is one of Greenland’s most celebrated and decorated chefs. Jeppe, who works at the Restaurant Ulo in the Hotel Arctic, will pamper you with a selection of innovative dishes imbued with the intense flavours of the Arctic wilderness.

(Update 2017: Jeppe Ejvind Nielsen has since moved onto other opportunities, but you can still taste gourmet food in Restaurant Ulo.')

Look forward to dining on state-of-the-art dishes featuring snow crab, musk ox, reindeer, halibut, and shrimps flavoured with handpicked mountain herbs.

It all sounds like a dream. The icebergs, the hotel’s luxurious setting and high gastronomy really set this place apart in these northerly latitudes. Yet, in this case, the dream is attainable.
