Activities in Paamiut
Paamiut is a delightful open and spacious town, which lies protected behind archipelagos. The town offers beautiful buildings and sights that are easily seen on your own, as they are in short distance from each other.
Examples of activities:
Hiking the Blue Mountains
The area to the Blue Mountains, Naajat, immediately behind Paamiut is a beautiful hiking terrain, where there are good opportunities to spot sea eagles. Alternatively you can walk to the town's lookout point, Bella Vista, where you get a good overview of the town.
Sailings on the lookout for humpback whales
The sea area off Paamiut is a really good place to look for whales during sailing trips. From Paamiut you can sail to the big village Arsuk and the two abandoned villages Narsalik and Avigaat. There are also tours to the inland ice via Kvanefjorden where you can experience roaring waterfalls and large bird cliffs. Tourist sailings are rarely announced in Paamiut, so check availability at the Paamiut Museum & Tourist Services.
