07.04.02 - World-class heli-skiing in Greenland

From the end of April until the beginning of June the experienced Greenland heli-ski guide, Frenchman Ary Dedet, will be offering world-class heli-ski trips in some of the most beautiful and unspoilt areas of Greenland.

By Malik Milfeldt

The trips start from Copenhagen with skiing destinations in either Maniitsoq/Sukkertoppen in West Greenland or later on in the season in Uummannaq in North Greenland.

Heliskiing with Ary Dedet

Maniitsoq has large glacial areas that stretch all the way out to the coast and cut through the largest alpine mountain area on Greenland’s west coast. The ski slopes are located both on some of the biggest islands in the area and alongside some of the deepest fjords, where in several places it is possible to ski from the top of the mountain all the way down to sea level. Overnight accommodation is at Hotel Maniitsoq.

The heli-ski trips near Uummannaq are a genuine first as no other groups have yet skied on the virgin slopes from a helicopter. The mountains around Uummannaq are known for being high and covered in snow well into the summer – if not all year round. Overnight accommodation at Hotel Uummannaq.

Facts:
The trips take place during the following periods:

• Maniitsoq: Monday 30 April until Monday 7 May
• Maniitsoq: Monday 7 May until Monday 14 May
• Maniitsoq: Monday 14 May until Monday 21 May
• Uummannaq: Tuesday 22 May until Tuesday 29 May
• Uummannaq: Tuesday 29 May until Tuesday 5 June
