According to marketing director Niels Feerup, the new site is part of a strategy to make the marketing of Greenland on both Danish and international markets a lot more sales-oriented.

More options for advertising
The main page at www.greenland.com, for example, represents a particularly attractive advertising space on which travel agencies and tour operators have the chance to advertise. Several travel agencies have taken advantage of this opportunity in connection with the launch of the site. These include Greenland Travel's main page advertisement for a tour of Greenland and Topas Adventure Travel's advertisement for a cruise in South Greenland. Both advertisements link to the full-size advertisement and from here to the travel agency in question's own website.



"At Greenland Tourist and Business Council we are eager to give travel agencies the best chance of promoting their products on our site. Advertising means that a higher number of potential tourists have direct access to the travel agencies' products and their sites, and this is certain to generate greater interest in booking holidays to Greenland in the years ahead," says Niels Feerup, before adding that other players in the tourist industry, e.g. providers of overnight accommodation, tourist offices, etc., will also be offered the chance to advertise on the site.

Price example
An advertisement on the main page costs DKK 15,000 for one year. The price is the same irrespective of whether the ad is in one, two or three languages (Danish, English and German). An advertisement that appears on one of the underlying pages is cheaper (e.g. under package tours) and costs DKK 2,500.
