Rodebay – or Oqaatsut in Greenlandic – lies one hour by boat north of Ilulissat. There are no roads leading to the settlement, although there is a hiking route which takes between 6-8 hours to walk, thus enabling you to work up an extra good appetite for H8’s excellent food.

The restaurant has been run for more than 10 years by chefs and hosts Uta and Ingo Wolff, who typically close the restaurant from November to February, but are always working at full strength during the rest of the year.
In Rodebay it is possible to spend the night in rented huts, which can be arranged through Uta and Ingo or Greenland Tours’ Elke Meissner in Ilulissat. Different activities available during the summer season include kayaking, sea and trout fishing, hiking and sailing trips.
