Greenland.com has the great pleasure of being able to present a series of photographs from East Greenland taken by nature photographer Morten Hilmer. Since 2005 he has been a member of the Sirius Patrol – a unit under the Danish armed forces that patrols all of Northeast Greenland on traditionally built dogsleds.
The patrols carried out in this unique area, which also includes Greenland’s National Park, have given him an unrivalled opportunity to photograph one of the most beautiful and unspoilt corners of Greenland.

The series contains photographs from the numerous dogsled patrols on the top of the world and features encounters with wildlife, including polar bears, walruses, arctic hares and various traditional birds in Greenland.
Morten Hilmer is a professional nature photographer and owns Hilmer & Koch Naturfotografi in partnership with his colleague Søren Koch.

At present, Morten Hilmer is in Ilulissat, where he is experimenting with daylight, which at this time of the year only dominates the sky five hours a day due to the town’s northerly latitude of 69.2° N.
We are looking forward to seeing these new pictures, but until then we would encourage you to see the series of photographs from East Greenland here on the website – as well as numerous other fantastic photographs at www.hilmer-koch.dk
