Ice golf at the Arctic Circle
The Lake Ferguson Masters tournament will be held for the first time in 2007 at Kangerlussuaq just north of the Arctic Circle. It will take place on the frozen Lake Ferguson, which, surrounded by mountains and covered by pure white snow, makes a fantastic setting for ice golf.
Open tournament
The Lake Ferguson Masters is open to all golfers that are prepared to compete in temperatures that can be as low as minus 30° C (minus 22° F). Kangerlussuaq’s location in West Greenland at the base of a large fjord and close to the ice sheet means that the winter is particularly cold.
Wildlife as spectators
Curious musk oxen, reindeer and arctic foxes appear to follow the tournament at a respectful distance. You can therefore be lucky enough to get a unique insight into Kangerlussuaq’s magnificent wildlife in conjunction with the ice golf tournament. And if you wish to see the animals at closer range, a musk ox safari is an obvious choice once the tournament is over.

The ice golf tournament will - under normal circumstances - be held in March. It takes place on two 9-hole courses and is organised by the local tourist office, Kangerlussuaq Tourism, which can be contacted at kangtour@greennet.gl.
