Arts & Crafts
The Greenlandic word for art is “Eqqumiitsuliorneq”, which translated directly means “to create things that look strange”. The inspiration for Greenlandic arts and crafts often originates from wildlife and the natural world and not least from the traditional beliefs concerning the spirit world. Read more. Click here

Unique and handmade
Souvenirs from Greenland are unique, handmade works of art the like of which cannot be found anywhere else in the world. Each product is shaped and designed by a Greenlandic artist, who manages to follow tradition and custom, whilst at the same time creating unique works incorporating his or her own ideas and skills. CITES in Greenland
Special permission (CITES export permits) is required to export tupilaks of walrus, polar bear claws etc. These are issued in accordance with the international Washington convention. If a tourist does not have a CITES export permit, the souvenir will be confiscated by foreign costums.Read about the regulations concerning the export of certain types of souvenir and download the information in English or German.
